What to see in Brighton in November.

6th & 7th November 8pm
The Basement
Forced Entertainment are something of a performance art institution. Hailing from Sheffield and still mumbling in microphones in a deadpan manner after twenty years. Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, sometimes terrible but always interesting.

9th November 7.30pm
The Nightingale Theatre
Crime and Casualty by Katie Duck and Alfredo Genovesi feat guest performer Charlie Morrissey
Charlie Morrissey is a Nightingale regular, well known for his contact improvisation. Katie Duck, described as 'the Zorba the Greek of Improvation' promises to make you feel something, which is always good.

20th November 8pm
The Basement
A night featuring three shows presenting performances in progress, promising mostly because of the presence of Hunt & Darton, the duo who run the wildly successful Edinburgh fringe venue the Hunt & Darton Cafe, an installation cafe serving Tunnocks Teacakes who are promising to be part of next years Brighton Festival. They are presenting a new work entitled Boredom, which probably won't induce it.

20th & 21st November 7.30pm
Brighton Dome, Studio Theatre
This has come to me recommended by those in the know. I wasn't sure about the idea of 'a theatrical trip to the subconscious underworld of his future self.' However found sound and audio are a fascinating and until recently underused part of the theatrical arts and the promise of Marilyn Monroe's last interview and snippets from Judy Garland's dictaphone seem enticing.

22nd & 23rd November 8.30pm
The Old Market
Beats by Keiran Hurley
Plus: Post Show Stick it on, the DJ Democracy.
I saw this in Edinburgh on my own, stone cold sober, which I think is probably not in the spirit of things but still saw much to admire. If you like techno, and remember those psychedelic days, you probably weren't there. Hurley is a something of a tour de force; Dirty storytelling with a Scottish accent accompanied by thumping base.

22nd November 8pm
The Basement
Jukebox Fury: The Assassination of JFK presented by Cinecity and The Basement
A themed event, following on from last years JG Ballard inspired evening. Two experimental films plus readings, talks, puppetry, performances and choreography. Dressing up is encouraged apparently. Could be fascinating as the subject matter is rich, but always cautious of an event which includes a medley of theatrical genres, especially including the word puppetry so could be calamitous.
